Broken Biscuits 2007

Davy Graham's way of operating can be gleaned from the title of one of his most influential albums, Folk Roots, New Routes. Even among characters like Bert Jansch, Ann Briggs and Shirley Collins, Graham was by most accounts the coolest, and most mercurial character on the folk revival scene, writing what became its signature tune, Anji. Seeking to move things onwards, he impressively incorporated eastern scales and tunings into his readings of traditional music.

Davy Graham now releases a new long player entitled "Broken Biscuits".

Recorded over the past two years the record offers 16 tracks, and features 9 new Graham compostions alongside arrangements of traditional music from all over the world. 10.99 delivery included.

Folk, Blues and Beyond 1964

This 1965 recording influenced a whole generation of acoustic guitarists and is the first British folk-rock. For this carefully remastered edition we have added five very rare bonus tracks, the 3/4 AD Featuring Alexis Koerner and the classic Anji, and a rare performance of Davy's first use of his DADGAD guitar tuning, "She Moved Through The Fair" an arrangement that was later exploited by Jimmy Page on 'White Summer".

It is impossible to describe the effect of this one album had and continues to hold for a whole new generation of musicians. Robin Denselow describes the record as a 'delayed time bomb'. 8.99 delivery included.

Live 1966 St Andrews Folk Club

A long-awaited album from Rollercoaster and Les Cousins, and a classic performance from the 60s by Davy Graham. This previously unreleased live performance was recorded by Geoff Harden while he was a student at St Andrews University in 1966.

Listen out for the audiences rapt silence at the end of the record and the agressive bar person loudly clearing away pint glasses as Davy plays his encores. 10.99 delivery included

Large As Life and Twice As Natural from 1967 is Davy Graham's best work, and its re-issue is worthy of special attention. Graham covers several traditional American tunes from the past, such as the sassy Bessie Smith hit "Electric Chair".

Graham and his combo (Danny Thompson on double bass, Jon Hiseman on drums, and Dick Heckstall-Smith on saxophone) turn each of these songs into something thats both strange yet familiar. Graham sings lead on these tunes with a pleasant and unaffected voice. He doesnt try to imitate the vocalists of the past or turn the art into artifice. He sings straight.

Grahams familiarity with international music finds its greatest expression in the instrumentals "Sunshine Raga" and "Blues Raga".

This '69 outing, which features solid support by bassist Danny Thompson and drummer John Spooner, showcases Graham's dynamic acoustic guitar work and Graham's stunning solo instrumental takes on jazz legend Art Blakey's "Buhaina Chant" and the traditional "Bulgarian Dance," which creates a hypnotically frenetic vibe. Adventurous, eclectic, and consistently well-executed, HAT is a lost gem that is sure to please open-minded fans of late-'60s British folk blues.

He's just as capable of good-time blues ("I'm Ready") and a folk cover of "Getting Better" from Sgt. Pepper as dark, slightly dissonant instrumentals with a modal/Eastern flavor. 8.99 delivery included

Midnight Man

This is Davy's second adventure on LP from 1966, and features covers of Lalo Schifrin ('The Fakir'), Beatles ('I'm Looking Through You'), Blind Willie Johnson and Herbie Hancock ('Watermelon Man') as well as 'Stormy Monday' and his own 'No Preacher Blues'.

Redolent of those heady days, it features incredibly evolved guitar arrangements and showcases Davy's inimitable vocal style.

This record can be described as being Davy's "Beat" record and was a hit with Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Alex Trochhi.
